Bride and groom first kiss

Emma and Joe’s Wedding

Well, let me tell you, Emma and Joe’s wedding day at Riverhill Himalayan Gardens was one of those warm, joy-filled days that sticks with you. Everything about their story felt personal. They had their little boy Billy with them, and the whole day just had this relaxed, family vibe that made every moment feel really grounded and real. No fuss, no stress, just people who love each other, showing up with big smiles and even bigger energy.

The morning started at Emma’s house, with her bridesmaids, her family, and Billy running around in the sweetest way. Prep was calm, cosy, full of colour, lots of laughter, nice moments with her mum, the bridesmaids helping with the final touches, and Emma getting Billy ready for the big day. It all felt so like a proper family morning.

Then onto The Bull in Otford, where Joe was getting ready with his groomsmen. What a top bunch. They were sorting buttonholes, having a laugh, greeting guests as they arrived, and the whole thing had that classic pub morning atmosphere I love shooting. Following this, it was off to St Bartholomew’s Church for the ceremony. The place was packed, emotional and bright. Every seat filled, lots of colour, and an atmosphere that made the vows feel even more powerful. You could feel how much these two mean to their people.

Wedding Photos I took at Riverhill Himalayan Gardens

Here’s a look at a selection of Emma and Joe’s wedding photos at Riverhill Himalayan Gardens. A mix of natural moments, emotional bits, laughter, colour and that mad dance floor that I’m still thinking about.

More from Emma and Joe’s Wedding

After the confetti, they jumped into a classic car and headed to Riverhill Himalayan Gardens for the reception. And honestly, what a venue. The views, the greenery, the little hidden spots around the gardens, the mix of woodland and open space. It’s the kind of place photographers get excited about because every corner gives you something different.

The reception had it all: an oyster shucker, a talented singer, bright outfits everywhere, and Senza Fondo- Joe’s own company-providing an absolute feast: plates of fresh lasagna, loads of food coming out, and everyone loving it. Emma’s brother and sister-in-law were involved throughout the day too, adding even more of that family feeling.

And then the party. Nothing prepared me for the dance floor. They brought out these blue cowboy hats and I swear the place erupted. Full chaos in the best possible way. Bright colors, people on shoulders, wild dancing, mariachi music, full commitment from every single guest. Easily one of the most energetic dance floors I’ve photographed this summer. Emma and Joe are absolute legends. I came away buzzing with some of my favourite images of the year. Just a huge, fun, emotional, colourful day.

Riverhill Himalayan Gardens – a Great Venue for Unique Weddings

If you’re looking for a wedding venue in Kent that feels a bit different, Riverhill Himalayan Gardens is a gem. It has this mix of historic charm and natural beauty that gives you loads of variety throughout the day. You get sweeping views across the countryside, tall trees, beautiful gardens and open spaces that feel perfect for relaxed celebrations.

The layout works really well for weddings too. Guests can wander, enjoy the grounds and find their own pockets of space. The gardens give you lots of colour, especially in summer, and the whole place has a warm, welcoming atmosphere that suits laid back couples who want something special without it feeling too formal.

There’s space for drinks on the lawn, shaded spots for quieter moments and plenty of room for big parties. Emma and Joe’s friends made the most of it. Everywhere you looked there was laughter, groups chatting, people exploring, glasses clinking and guests enjoying the open air.

It’s a venue with real personality. That’s what makes it such a great backdrop for unique weddings.

Photography at the Venue

From a photography point of view, Riverhill Himalayan Gardens is a dream. You get clean light, natural colour and loads of texture. The gardens shift throughout the day which means you can create a mix of looks in a short space of time. One minute you’re shooting under tall trees, the next you’re in open sunlight with rolling views behind the couple.

For portraits, it’s perfect. Couples feel relaxed because they aren’t being watched, and you can wander through the gardens finding quiet corners and soft light. Emma and Joe’s couple time on the hill gave us some of my favourite images because the space opened up around them and the light dropped beautifully.

The reception spaces are great for candid photography too. Guests move naturally between areas, which means you get genuine moments without feeling like you’re pulling anyone away from the fun. The colourful outfits on the day helped as well. Every turn gave me something bright to work with.

And then the evening. The dance floor at Riverhill Himalayan Gardens lights up so well. Once the hats came out and the party kicked off, the whole place turned into a wave of colour, movement, music and pure energy. It gave me the chance to shoot fast paced, creative frames and capture the madness in a way that still feels true to the moment.

If you’re after a wedding photographer who knows Riverhill Himalayan Gardens well, loves shooting real moments and keeps things relaxed, I’m always up for it. This venue is full of possibilities and I’d happily photograph here every weekend.
