Proposal photographer in London

I’m Stan, a Kent-based proposal, engagement, and wedding photographer - and London is where I photograph most of the proposals I’m booked for. Are you planning a London proposal? I’ve photographed more than 30 proposals in the capital in the past 12 months, and I’d love to help you with all the local knowledge I’ve got about locations, logistics and everything else you might need to plan a perfect proposal. And of course, photograph it for you.

London Proposal Photographer

Photos with feeling

Hey, it’s lovely to meet you!

Capture the Excitement of This Chapter

A proposal shoot freezes that joyful, just-said-yes feeling in time—documenting the genuine happiness and excitement before the wedding planning kicks into full gear.

Get Comfortable in Front of the Camera

It’s a great way to build confidence and get used to being photographed as a couple, especially if you’re camera-shy. Some of the nicest feedback I've received was from people who hated being photographed.

Personalise Your Love Story

Proposal sessions can reflect your personality—whether it’s a favourite location, shared hobby, or casual date vibe. It’s a chance to tell your story, your way.

Use the Photos Creatively

The photos aren’t just for keepsakes! They’re perfect for save-the-dates, wedding websites, guest books, or even décor at the wedding.

Celebrate Without the Pressure

Unlike the wedding day, there’s no tight timeline or big audience. It’s relaxed, fun, and all about just the two of you enjoying the moment together.

Why You’ll Love a
Proposal Shoot

No words will ever be able to describe how incredible Stan was in capturing our very intimate proposal! He just got our vibe from the get-go and was so, so intuitive in the moments that we wanted to be captured. Stan is extremely talented and I could not recommend him enough! Thank you, Stan! You’re a star!

Kind Words

- Naadia & Jamie

Every photo captures a different emotion that helped us to relive and remember that particular moment in time. The photos are stunning and we love them. We cannot wait to share them with our family and friends. I'm so pleased that you were recommended to Jamie and that you were available on the weekend as planned. It was meant to be!

We are honestly lost for words...The pictures are absolutely beautiful, every single one!

Stan was a huge part of making my proposal special. Stan is a great guy and has a very patient and helpful approach. I wasn't sure on how/where to propose and Stan was able to offer advise based on his experience in London, and help prepare me for the moment. We had a couple of video calls before the proposal that helped me get the right location and plan in place. On the day Stan took some excellent photos of the moment, and then with his documentary style approach we wandered for an hour after the proposal taking photos and chatting. This ended up being a highlight of the day. Stan then delivered a few of the key photos by the end of the day, and then the full album within a week. Overall excellent service!

I got engaged to my girlfriend on April 25th in London, and thanks to Stan, everything went perfectly.
From the very beginning, his attention to detail was exceptional. Months before the proposal, we had a Zoom call where he carefully explained how to get to the location and walked me through each step of the plan. That guidance was absolutely essential.
On the big day, Stan arrived well in advance to prepare and make sure everything was ready. He captured the exact moment of the proposal beautifully, and afterward, we enjoyed a relaxed walk during which he took more amazing photos of my fiancée and me.
The photos are of the highest quality—natural, elegant, and full of emotion. Stan truly managed to preserve the love and excitement of that special moment. I couldn’t be happier with the results and would recommend him without hesitation to anyone planning a proposal in London.

In the months leading up to my surprise proposal in London, Stan was a pleasure to communicate and plan with all the way from Canada where I live. On the morning of, he was incredibly helpful and professional, arriving early to the cinema to prepare, while giving me peace of mind on the day. He captured the moments leading up to the proposal and after it so well. We couldn't be happier with all of the photos he took and we'll be able to keep for the rest of our lives. Thank you Stan!

Thank you, Stan, we loved having you with us for our special day! Amazing photos that we will treasure forever. If you are looking for a photographer who will go above and beyond to capture your special moment, Stan is your man! When you book someone 24 hours before your proposal via a stranger's recommendation on Instagram, you're not sure what you're going to get. But what was delivered were timeless memories that we, our friends, and our family will treasure for a lifetime. Such good photos that we booked him for our wedding, and once again Stan delivered!

Do you photograph the proposal itself discreetly?

Absolutely. I’m here to help however you need me to. The proposal photography package includes a video call, where we can talk through ideas, logistics, and locations. I’d love to recommend beautiful proposal spots in London and beyond, and I’ll also advise on timing, lighting, and how to make the moment as smooth and memorable as possible. We can also schedule additional calls if you'd like to go deeper into the details or just talk things through.

As a documentary photographer, my approach to capturing couples is natural, relaxed, and entirely unposed. Rather than asking you to look at the camera or strike a pose, I focus on capturing genuine moments that reflect your true selves and the unique connection you share. My goal is to build a comfortable rapport with both of you, ensuring you feel at ease and free to be yourselves in front of the camera.

Most of the proposals I photograph are in London, but I’d be happy to photograph your proposal wherever it might be - I love to travel!

I regularly check the weather forecast to ensure we're prepared for any conditions on the day of your proposal. If rain is expected, there’s no need to worry—I’m always equipped with an umbrella in my camera bag. We have three options: wait for the rain to pass, use umbrellas to stay dry, or embrace the rain and make it part of the experience. Your proposal will be memorable no matter what.

I suggest you both wear outfits you love but which are also suitable for walking afterwards. I also advise people not to bring any rucksacks, shoulder bags or other distracting accessories which you might not want in your photos. Keep in mind that suggesting what outfit your partner should wear might give your plans away; women are always 3 steps ahead.

Why is London Great for Proposals?

Proposing in London: Iconic, Intimate, and Unforgettable

London is one of the most iconic cities in the world. Its many landmarks, rich history, fascinating architecture and breathtaking views are a few of the reasons why it’s a great place to propose. For visitors from abroad and even locals, London holds a special significance, and if I had to guess, it’s probably one of the most romantic cities to get engaged in, after Paris. Whether you are envisioning a picturesque proposal in one of the Royal Parks, looking for a hidden gem tucked away from the crowds, such as St Dunstan in the East or the Reflection Garden at 25 Cannon Street, or a world-famous landmark, such as the Big Ben, London truly has it all. From private boats on the Thames to panoramic bird’s-eye views from the capital’s tallest buildings, there is something for every couple. Whatever your proposal plan might be, rest assured, you will be able to bring your vision to life.

I have been lucky enough to photograph more than 30 proposals in the past year and because of my local knowledge of London, I can be of great help to you when it comes to recommending a location and going through every logistical detail that matters for your exciting moment. Some of my favourite locations where I’ve photographed proposals in London include Kyoto Garden (part of Holland Park), Westminster Bridge - the arch under the bridge opposite the Big Ben, Hyde Park, Millennium Bridge, Tower Bridge, and some private locations such as the Electric Cinema in Notting Hill.

London is an ideal place to have your proposal captured on camera. Stunning photography opportunities are abundant. In a city where people are constantly snapping photos, cameras blend in effortlessly, so keeping your proposal a surprise and having it photographed at the same time is not a difficult task.

I’m a member of…

It all starts with the engagement ring, right? No ring, no proposal. Ring-shopping, I feel, is a whole different world, and I assume that if you are looking for a proposal photographer, you already have this part figured out. Here I’m talking about actually planning your proposal in London, step by step. During the planning call, I’ll explain everything you need to know before you drop down on one knee. I can provide as much or as little guidance - it all depends on your needs. I also keep in constant communication on the day of your proposal and do my best to try and calm your nerves before the exciting moment.

Planning your London Proposal

London is one of my favourite places for photography. I often visit the capital to practice my photography skills in general. What I really love about London, apart from the red double-decker buses, which make for some great slow-shutter speed motion blur backdrops, is the general vibe about the city. I particularly enjoy photographing couples in the quiet London streets that really have the traditional, historical feel about them. Many locations within London provide a distinctive, dramatic scenery which fits great with my style of photography. One minute you might be at Brick Lane, admiring the street art, the next minute you could be on the 50th floor of one of the tallest buildings, enjoying the views of the stunning London skyline. I also love photographing at the Royal Parks in London. The first London proposal I ever photographed was at Primrose Hill. I still remember the excitement I had on the day, and the incredible feeling I had when I brought the camera to my eye and composed against the beautiful view from the hilltop with Dhanesh on one knee, proposing to Katy, looking gorgeous within the frame.
