Weddings were massively out of my comfort zone before I started. I really mean it! I’m naturally introverted so the idea of being around a lot of people, especially strangers can be quite scary. And if I have to be the center of attention, even more scary and daunting.

 This is one of the biggest reasons why I love being a documentary photographer. I don’t think I could ever be a traditional wedding photographer – the kind the runs the day, bosses everyone around, acts like a toastmaster and an usher and takes pics at the same time. I’m so happy that I’ve found a way to photograph weddings that works for me and my couples. And yes, most couples I work with are kind of like me – not really keen on being in the spotlight all the time.

 One of the things that makes the biggest difference is definitely meeting my couples in person before the big day. We really get to connect better and I don’t feel like I’m at a stranger’s wedding, while they feel like I’m more of a friend rather than a wedding supplier.
