Lojinie and Pier’s wedding was a fantastic way to start the 2026 wedding season. It was all the way in Southport which is a few hours away from Folkestone where I’m based, but I do absolutely love travelling for weddings. I get to see places that I wouldn’t normally so I’m always happy to venture out of the county and even the country.

How did those two lovely human beings find me? Instagram! We had a quick video call, hit it off, and it was all made official. I met them for a meal in a lovely restaurant in Canary Wharf before the wedding too – something I love doing with all couples if possible. People connect so much better in person. And I’m all in for connection.

And then it was time for the big day. Loji’s morning prep was at the hotel and it was super nice and chill, until everybody arrived and the energy completely changed. We then headed off to the church where they got married, and made it back to the hotel afterwards. There was so much going on. Hugs, laughs, cheers, funny speeches, emotional speeches, wild shapes on the dancefloor. Everything you need for a great wedding.

Southport Waterfront Hotel – Photographer’s Dream

What’s one of the most important things that makes or breaks a photograph? Light! And those beautiful, huge glass windows at the Waterfront Hotel let so much light into the room it was absolutely gorgeous. It was all decorated beautifully and there was plenty of space for Loji and Piers’s more than 150 guests.

The huge space was ideal to get creative with photography and implement one of my favourite compositional techniques that creates really interesting images with lots of depth – layering. I love venues that present opportunities for creative photography. I love the craft itself and the fact that I get to take photos at the biggest day of people’s lives is just so fulfilling, meaningful and rewarding.

Another huge benefit of having all those lovely windws is that you get to enjoy the beautiful views – the bridge on the left, and the lake on the right. There is also a gorgeous terrace for guests to get some fresh air and enjoy the views.

Fun and Chill Couple Time Portraits in Southport

I love couple time portraits but I never take too long to get those done, and they are never a must. Loji and Piers wanted to make these fun and really chill as both of them weren’t used to being photographed – just like most couples. So we went for it. It took us 10-15 minutes, we went for a chill walk on the bridge near the hotel and then jumped on the carousel near by. It was great fun.

Weddings at the Southport Waterfront Hotel

I love venues where you can do it all – get ready, get married, get fed, and party, all in one place. The Southport Waterfront Hotel is one of those venues. They offer plenty of options and host all kinds of celebrations – from huge weddings like Loji and Piers’s to small, initimate and cosy weddings with 20 or so guests.

Loji and Piers, it was an absolute pleasure to photograph your incredible wedding.

If you’re planning your wedding at The Southport Waterfront Hotel and are looking for a photographer to capture it all beautifully and naturally I’d love to hear from you.

OR… let’s get to know each other

Stan at his first wedding

So good to meet you! I’m Stan, 29, dad of two mini tornadoes – Sophia and Noah, in love with photography, crazy about working out, and a total foodie! I’m one with many, many interests, ranging from F1, kickboxing and Strongman to yoga, journalling, and meditation. And so much more in between.

I probably shouldn’t tell you this, but after being a bit allergic to football I’ve become a fan since the 2026 WC (still hate Marmite though). I love anything Harlan Coben comes up with, as long as it’s not dubbed, Black Mirror, and The Big Bang Theory. So much contrast, I know.

That’s probably enough about me at this point. I’d love to hear all about you. Say hello here or find out more about me.
